For a fasting lab, the patient should have nothing to eat or drink (water and/or black coffee is okay) after midnight prior to having labs drawn. Most times it is best to hold off on taking any of your prescribed medications after midnight the night before too, until after your lab appointment. Ask us if you're unsure.
